PUB A LONDRA

Per gli amanti della buona birra e della buona compagnia, Londra ha luoghi di incontro straordinari: famosi pub a Londra. Non e’ possibile venire a Londra e non entrare in un Pub, anche solo per vedere come sono fatti. Sono dei veri e propri salotti, con camino, librerie, e fiumi di birra.

Tutti in legno, con un’atmosfera calda e accogliente. E’ li che gli inglesi trascorrono il tempo dopo il lavoro, per loro il Pub e’ uno stile di vita, una stanza esterna alla loro casa, immancabile per essere inglesi.

Il pub più antico dicono che non esiste piu’, era quello dove ci andava Mick Jagger quando studiava economia a Londra, si trovava davanti al Battersea Park, dove c'è la famosa fabbrica immortalata in un cd dei Pink Floyd. Il pub era del 1500. Ma in tutta Londra ci sono ad ogni angolo pub più o meno antichi e noti, tutti con un suo stile , una sua storia, una sua atmosfera particolare. Di seguito alcuni pub storici

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese
 Uno particolarmente apprezzato è il Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese. Il pub attuale fu costruito nel 1667 dopo il Grande Incendio di Londra per sostituire un edificio molto più vecchio. La cantina risale al XIII secolo e rappresenta i resti di un antico monastero. Proprio da qui, Samuel Pepys osservò la città in fiamme.

Lo Spaniards Inn di Hampstead Heath risale al lontano 1585. E' rimasto praticamente lo stesso
 si beve si mangia e si ascolta della buona musica. Praticamente siamo dentro una macchina del tempo.

il Mayflower
il Mayflower di Rotherhithe racchiude in sé aspetti antichi e storici. Dai gradini vicino al The Shippe, come veniva chiamato nel 1620, la Mayflower salpò verso l'America.

Molti pub londinesi ospitano anche associazioni letterarie. TheDove di Hammersmith vanta tra i clienti del passato giganti della letteratura del ventesimo secolo come Graham Greene ed Ernest Hemingway.

Coach & Horses e e Crawdaddy Club dove I Rolling Stones tennero il loro primo concerto febbraio del 1962

Anche a Soho, il Coach and Horses è spesso al centro della scena. È l'ambientazione della commedia di Keith Waterhouse "Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell".

Ci sono anche i pub dedicati alla musica I Rolling Stones tennero il loro primo concerto nel febbraio del 1962 al Crawdaddy Club dello Station Hotel di Richmond. 

L'edificio fa ora parte della catena di pub The Bull. Nell'area nord di Londra, il Clissold Arms porta ancora lo stesso nome e ospitò la prima esibizione di Ray Davies e i Kinks.
